
Security Testing
Security Testing is the testing of a network, system, product or design, against the specified security requirements and/or for vulnerabilities (penetration testing).
Security Testing delivers a full range of testing work – from websites, mobile apps and infrastructure testing to social engineering.
Responsibilities include:
- Testing software and hosted platforms, to identify vulnerabilities
- Carrying out penetration testing of web applications, mobile applications, and internal infrastructure
- Analysing code to assess its level of security and to find specific vulnerabilities
- Managing the security testing process
- Participating in complex simulated attacks on networks or systems
- Working with other specialists, such as Cyber Threat Intelligence analysts, to keep updated with the latest threats/vulnerabilities
- Producing written technical reports to a professional standard, for clients
- Researching potential vulnerabilities
- Researching potential new security mechanisms or methods, and develop promising options
- Formally briefing clients and colleagues.

The CHECK Scheme examination standard has been mapped against the UK Cyber Security Council Standard for Professional Competence and Commitment (UKCSC SPCC) and approved as a means of testing technical knowledge requirements for this specialism.
