"Grow your own"
corporate training
One size doesn't fit all when it comes to training within the cyber security industry
The Cyber Scheme has successfully launched mid-level and senior practitioner training courses over the last few months, which have been well received by companies and individuals wishing to further their career and increase practical knowledge.
However, we understand the limitations of expecting a candidate to visit Cheltenham for a period of several days, and also the fact that candidates have to ‘self-assess’ their suitability for the courses. Whilst our class based courses are very flexible, they are more suited to individuals than those looking for a more corporate approach. In 2023 we will be launching our ‘Grow Your Own’ corporate training to address this.
This training will be adapted to the needs of individual organisations wishing to up-skill/cross-skill and manage their existing workforce, ensuring a percentage of employees are able to identify, alert and report potential and actual cyber attacks. This lessens the need for external consultancy provision, and protects companies on a regular basis rather than just during a penetration test scenario.
The stages of the training will be roughly as follows:
- The organisation will put forward a possible cohort of candidates from their existing workforce – these could be from the IT department or individuals that have expressed a desire to move into cyber security.
- An assessment will take place including testing, interview and a questionnaire allowing our trainers to identify those amongst the cohort most suited to a pen testing role.
- The group of identified individuals will undergo rigorous training, on client premises or at a location to suit (including at our Cheltenham assessment centre if preferred). The training will take four days and will roughly map the syllabus of our CSTM exam, including all the topics necessary to form a thorough understanding of security testing essentials – topics can be discussed in advance and can also include ethics and law, governance and risk and incident response where required.
- On day five, an independent assessor will examine the cohort, and provide detailed feedback to the organisation on where the strengths, and any weaknesses, lie within each member of the group. This exam will be roughly equivalent to our CSTM exam and will be accredited by The Cyber Scheme.
Finally, detailed analysis will be provided in our bespoke reporting, allowing CISO’s to allocate those with the most potential to further training, roles as internal security testers or on to CHECK accreditation if desired.
This training is in development and we hope to launch our inaugural training in mid 2023. If your organisation is interested in learning more, either via an online meeting or in person, in the first instance please contact us using the button below and our Commercial Manager will be in touch.
